Son of William and Mary Preston, of 10, Glynus Avenue, Argoed, Mon.; husband of Elizabeth Jane Preston, of 25, Bridge St., Blackwood, Mon

John Preston was born Edwin John Preston in about 1882. He was one of three children born to William and Mary Preston. William came from Merthyr Tydfil and was born about 1864 while Mary who was born in the same year, came from Tredegar.

Their three children were:

Edwin John - born in 1882
William H - born in 1888 and
Edwin William - born in 1890

The family made their home at 2 Suzannah Place, Treharris where their next door neighbours at number one were also a family called Preston.

Living at No 1 Suzannah Place were William and Elizabeth Preston. They were the parents of William Preston and the grandparents of John Preston. In the early part of his life John had his grandparents and three aunts and an uncle living next door.

Jane, Henry, Elizabeth and Margaret were all in their teen years when their nephew Edwin John Preston was born.
