Ernest Bartly Jones was the only son to Thomas B Jones and Alice Edna Jones. Thomas originally came from Bethesda, Caernarfonshire, North Wales and was born there in about 1874 while his wife was born in about 1873.

They made their family home at 71 High Street, Nelson and had been married two years before the first of their four children were born.

Ernest Bartly Jones was born in 1902,
Edna E Jones in 1904,
Gladys Mary Jones in 1907, and,
Elsie May Jones in 1908.

Memorial service.

We deeply regret that in our last week’s report of the Nelson memorial services to the fallen heroes, there were a few omissions. The name of Private Ernest B Jones, Mechanical Transport Company, should have been included in the Roll of Honour. Private Jones who was the only son of Mr and Mrs T B Jones, 71 High Street, died whilst on active service in Constantinople.
